This week's homework...

Here you will find your child’s homework for the week ahead.

We have a suggestion for homework that can be completed across the week:-

  Monday – spellings

  Tuesday – maths

  Wednesday – spellings

  Thursday – maths

Friday – Write to the Top will be set and this needs to be talked through ready for your child to write on a Monday

It is recommended that reading takes place every day. Children who are using the Accelerated Reader system will continue to select books from the library at least once a week. These can be read at home and then returned to school when ready to quiz on.

For others the following approach will continue this half term:-

Books can be changed once returned to school. Children are selecting books from a selection matching the phase within letters and sounds that they are being taught.

Write to the Top

Emma Raducanu!

This week we have been reading about Emma Raducanu after her great win last weekend.

We have watched her play and some of us have even had a go with a tennis racket.

We have learnt lots of facts about Emma.

  • Emma won the US Open tournament
  • She is 18
  • First UK woman to win a big tournament for 40 years
  • She was born in Canada
  • Aged 2 she moved to London
  • Mum is from China
  • Dad is from Romania
  • Started playing aged 5
  • She is the British number 1

There are more facts available about her on the KS1 website (under the homework star).

Now we need to put these facts into full sentences. Say these sentences aloud to a grown up ready to then write on Monday.

You may wish to use the back of this sheet if you find out lots of more facts!

These will be set at the beginning of October.

The rules for the spellings are below – children will be tested on the rules and challenge words on a Friday. They will be asked to write a dictated sentence.

Spelling rules for week beginning                   are as follows:-
