EYFS

Welcome to the Conker class...

Here you can find out about our learning and see what Early Years is all about.

Our Spring 2 topic - The World Around Us

Take a look at what we have been up to this week..

This week we have been learning all about the desert and what animals live there and how they adapt to their extreme habitats. We used the i-pad and a program called 2paint to draw a picture of a camel and then write a sentence about it.

In maths we have been exploring capacity and using the appropriate vocabulary: full, half full, empty, nearly full and nearly empty.

This week is science week and so we decided to do an experiment every day:

1. Skittles and warm milk experiment

2. Pencil through a bag of water experiment

3. Balloon rocket experiment

4. Larva lamp experiment

5. Coke and mento experiment.

The children have loved watching all the experiments; observing, predicting and describing what  happened and suggesting possible reasons why.

We have also started our new talk for writing book, 'I want my hat back!! It started with a bear who left a note saying that he had lost his hat! We hot seated the bear to try to work out what it was like asking yes and no questions. Then we went on a hat hunt and discovered 3 possibilities! We drew pictures of what we thought it might look like. Finally bear appeared in the classroom with the hat that he had lost and our new book!!!

We also said. 'Goodbye' to our alien, Dudley who went back home to planet Zorb. We got a lovely message from his dad saying how thankful he was for us looking after him so well!

Welcome to our new Conker Class

The resources in EYFS are played with thoroughly almost every day and from time to time they don't make it in one piece. If you have a surplus of toys please check our Wish List to see it you can fill a gap in our resourcing needs.
